I always blog about chunky acetate frames and rarely about all of the amazing metal frames that are available, so let me show you some ic! Berlin.
ic! Berlin make frames out of sheet metal. Sure, they make some plastic frames too, but it would seem that sheet metal is their true love.
ic! Berlin collaborated with Superfine London in early 2007 and the result looks just as good, two years later.
The frames have no screws in the hinges – the arms fold due to the way they are cut from the sheet metal and interlock with the body of the frame. This makes them really sturdy. Damn clever!
Ralph from ic! Berlin even keeps an online journal. The occasional entry is in English and completely adorable. How could you not love them?
Ooooh! Look how they make them:

A couple of the founders of IC! berlin went off to create Mykita as well, which does similar styles with a different, but equally funky hinge style.
I have a nice pair of Mykitas which are simply lovely.

i just tried on a pair of these – Antony model.. They are light and soooo comfortable. look cool to boot. the bottom halves of the frame slim down to ‘wire’ thickness and sits perfectly in the groove of the lens, replaces the need for messy nylon.
Hey Jonny, where did you try them on?
