Davon, 19 and Erica, 20, live in Baltimore. They’ve been together for a year and collect vintage frames.

Davon emailed me last week with a link to his Flickr, loaded with photos of their impressive collection. I asked them to tell me a bit more about themselves:

“I started collecting in college after a friend had given me a pair of
vintage Porsche Design 5623 frames. Erica began collecting after I
purchased her a pair of Cazals as an early birthday gift.” – Davon

stop or take a double look. That means the pair you have on is a show

I noticed Lynn on Willis Street this afternoon and I just had to approach her for a photo. Her style is incredible and I’m annoyed that the full length photo that I took of her outfit didn’t turn out.

My gorgeous friend, Rebecca, recently bought some new glasses.

She found the frames in what we Antipodeans call an op shop – you probably know them better as thrift stores. They were originally a pair of sunglasses with odd mirrored lenses. She had her optometrist fit them with Transitions lenses – the ones that turn into sunglasses when exposed to UV light.

I’ve always thought that Transitions lenses were kind of dorky, but I’m starting to think that this is because they were in the wrong frames. That weird in-between-sunglasses-and-clear-lenses stage wouldn’t be weird at all with frames as large as these.

I might try it when I buy these Audrey frames from Glasses Direct:

Actually, her whole outfit complements the glasses wonderfully. She even had a multi-coloured pompom attached to her hood! I particularly love the purple jeans and hi-tops.

I’m finding it less nerve-wracking to approach people and ask to take their photograph now, so hopefully you can expect more posts along these lines!

I forgot to ask Cate who made her glasses, but she told me she’d just that day picked them up from Geraldine Booth Optical, who probably have the best range in Wellington.

I’ve been waiting for a new photo of someone in glasses before I shared her site here. Today she posted one!

She makes me wish I spoke French.

Edit: Apparently this is set designer and illustrator Gary Card, who does stuff with Cassette Playa, who use so many bright colours, it makes my head asplode explode with joy!

I got my very own white blonde hair today. I love my hairdresser! I’m also wearing my upside-down-ish Modo glasses. They have clear glittery arms and the inside of the frames has zebra print. When I don’t feel like talking to strangers, I make sure I wear a different pair because these glasses have started more conversations than anything I’ve ever worn! It usually begins with, “Umm, are you wearing your glasses upside-down?”

He is totally rocking those pink glasses. In fact, they make his outfit. Also, I love it when boys wear cardigans!
